Born on June 14, 1946 in Queens, New York, Donald John Trump is an American politician, journalist and businessman. He served as the 45th President of the United States from 2017 to 2021, and was re-elected in January 2024, making him the President-elect to take office on February 20, 2025

Early Life and Education :

Trump was raised in Queens and attended the Kew-Forest School. He later transferred to the New York Military Academy, where he completed his high school education. In 1968, he graduated with a bachelor's degree in economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Business Career :

In 1971, Trump took control of his family's real estate business, renaming it the Trump Organization. He expanded the company's operations to include the construction and renovation of skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses. Despite facing several business challenges, including multiple bankruptcies, Trump maintained a prominent presence in the real estate industry. From 2004 to 2015, he gained further fame as the host of the reality television series "The Apprentice."

Political Career :

Trump's political affiliations have shifted over the years. He registered as a Republican in 1987, changed to the Independence Party in 1999, to the Democratic Party in 2001, and returned to the Republican Party in 2009. He also had a period of no party affiliation before settling back with the Republicans in 2012.

In 2016, Trump won the Republican nomination for president and subsequently defeated Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in the general election, despite losing the popular vote. His campaign was marked by populist, protectionist, and nationalist themes. During his first term, he implemented significant policies, including a travel ban on citizens from several Muslim-majority countries, the construction of a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico, and the enactment of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.

Impeachments and Legal Challenges :

Trump's presidency was marked by significant legal challenges, including two impeachments. The first impeachment in 2019 involved charges of abuse of power and obstruction of Congress related to his dealings with Ukraine. The second impeachment in 2021 charged him with incitement of insurrection following the January 6 Capitol riot. He was acquitted by the Senate in both instances.

Post-Presidency and 2024 Election :

After leaving office in 2021, Trump remained a dominant figure in the Republican Party. He announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election and secured the Republican nomination. In November 2024, he won the presidential election, making him the first U.S. president to serve non-consecutive terms since Grover Cleveland.

Political Positions :

Trump's political positions have evolved over time. He has been described as a protectionist, particularly concerning trade policies, and has advocated for stricter immigration controls. His economic policies during his first term included significant tax cuts and increased government spending, which contributed to a substantial rise in the national debt.

Controversies and Legal Issues :

Throughout his career, Trump has been involved in numerous legal matters, including over 4,000 legal actions related to his businesses. His political career has also been fraught with controversies, including allegations of collusion with Russia during the 2016 election, which were investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller. Additionally, his administration's policies, such as the family separation policy at the U.S.-Mexico border, sparked widespread protests and legal challenges.

Personal Life :

Trump has been married three times and has five children. His family has been actively involved in his business and political endeavors. He is known for his presence on social media, particularly Twitter, where he communicated directly with the public during his first term.

Conclusion :

Donald Trump's life and career have been characterized by significant achievements in business and politics, as well as numerous controversies and legal challenges. As he prepares to assume the presidency for a second, non-consecutive term, his policies and leadership style continue to be subjects of intense public interest and debate.
